Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What SEAI grants are available for external wall insulation?
The SEAI Better Energy Homes scheme currently offers grants of up to €8,000 for external wall insulation on eligible properties. Grant amounts depend on property type and the work scope. We handle all SEAI grant applications and supporting documentation on behalf of our clients.
How long does an EWI installation take?
A standard semi-detached property typically takes 5–8 working days to complete. Larger detached homes or terrace end-of-row properties may take longer. We'll give you a realistic programme at quotation stage — we don't compress timelines at the cost of quality.
Will EWI change the look of my house?
EWI does add thickness to your external walls, typically 100–150mm. We offer a wide range of silicone render colours and textures to suit your preference and neighbourhood. Many clients find the refreshed render finish significantly improves the kerb appeal of older properties.
What U-values can you achieve?
Using 100mm Platinum EPS board, we typically achieve U-values of 0.27 W/m²K or better, well within current Part L building regulations. We can specify higher performance boards for homes targeting deeper retrofits or Passive House standards.
Do you handle the SEAI grant application?
Yes — we manage the full SEAI application process from initial registration through to post-completion inspection. You do not need to deal with the paperwork. We confirm grant eligibility before work begins so there are no surprises.
Is planning permission required for EWI?
In most cases, EWI on a standard residential property does not require planning permission under exempted development rules. However, protected structures and certain conservation areas may require consent. We assess this as part of our initial survey and advise accordingly.
