Why it matters

How electricians in Ireland win more work today.

The way homeowners find a electrician has changed completely. When something needs doing, they reach for their phone and search Google for a electrician in their area — then ring one of the first names they see. If your business isn't near the top of those results, the job quietly goes to a electrician who is, and you never even knew it existed.

That's what Ranksy fixes for electricians: we build your trade website, set up your Google Business Profile, and rank you locally so homeowners searching for a electrician in your county find you first — and call you directly.

Most electrician jobs are won on Google's first page

Every day, people across all 26 counties search "electrician near me", "electrician in Dublin", "electrician in Cork" and the like. The handful of electricians at the top take the overwhelming majority of the calls; everyone on page two might as well not exist. There's no prize for ranking tenth — the homeowner has rung someone and booked the job long before they scroll that far.

Your own website, built to rank

A Facebook page won't show up for those searches and a directory listing ranks the directory, not you. What works is your own electrician website on your own domain — fast, mobile-first, with your services, your service area and your verified credentials, all built to be found. Ranksy builds and maintains the whole thing for you, so you get a site that actually wins work, not one that just sits there looking nice.

Local SEO that puts you in front of the right people

Being found locally comes down to a verified Google Business Profile, the right keywords on every page, consistent business details and genuine reviews — the signals Google rewards. Our local SEO for tradespeople handles all of it from day one, so when a homeowner in your county searches for a electrician, you're the result in the map pack, not buried below the directories.

One electrician per county — your patch is yours

Ranksy works with one electrician per county. Once you've claimed your spot, no competing electrician on Ranksy can take it in that county — you're not racing another of our members for the same searches, and the work in that patch is yours to win. It's first-come, so the longer you leave it, the more likely a rival claims your area first.

The enquiries come straight to you

Unlike pay-per-lead platforms that sell the same enquiry to four or five electricians, your direct number sits on your site and your profile, so homeowners call you and only you. If your goal is simply more trade jobs, owning your own search results is the most reliable way to get them — every call that comes in is yours alone.

What it costs

A custom electrician website from a designer in Ireland typically runs €1,500 to €5,000, and still needs SEO on top. Ranksy is a flat €99 a month — covering your website, local SEO, Google Business Profile and verified credentials — with no setup fee, no contract, and your first 60 days free, no card required. For most electricians, one extra job a month more than covers it.

You don't need to know a thing about websites or SEO. You need to be the first electrician a homeowner in your county finds on Google — and that is exactly what Ranksy is built to do.

Irish electrician — common questions

Questions, answered

Electricians in Ireland — common questions.

How much does an electrician cost in Ireland?

Most electricians in Ireland charge between €65 and €130 per hour for standard domestic work. A consumer unit upgrade typically costs €800 to €1,500. A full house rewire starts from €4,000 for a three-bedroom home. EV charger installation usually ranges from €700 to €1,200 including the unit. All Ranksy-listed electricians provide fixed quotes before work begins.

Do Ranksy electricians cover my area?

Ranksy has one vetted electrician per county across all 26 counties of Ireland — from Dublin, Cork, and Galway to Leitrim, Roscommon, and Monaghan. Whether you are in Swords, Drogheda, Dundalk, Limerick, Waterford, Kilkenny, Tralee, Ennis, or a rural townland, check the directory to see if your area still has a spot open.

Are Ranksy electricians Safe Electric registered?

All Ranksy-listed electricians are Safe Electric registered (formerly RECI — Registered Electrical Contractors of Ireland). Safe Electric is the electrical safety regulator in Ireland. Only registered contractors can legally issue Completion Certificates for domestic electrical work. You can verify any electrician's registration at safeelectric.ie before you book.

What is a Completion Certificate and do I need one?

A Completion Certificate is the legal document certifying that electrical work meets Irish wiring regulations (IS 10101). It is required for new installations, rewires, consumer unit upgrades, and EV charger installations. Without it, your home insurance may be invalidated and you will have difficulty selling your property. All Safe Electric registered contractors issue these as standard.

How long does a full house rewire take?

A three-bedroom semi-detached house typically takes 5 to 8 working days to rewire, depending on the age of the property and ease of access. Older properties with solid walls or unusual layouts may take longer. You will usually need to vacate during the rewire. Your electrician will give you a precise timeline before work starts.

What electrical services are available?

Ranksy-listed electricians cover consumer unit and fuse board upgrades, full domestic rewires, EV charger installation, additional sockets and lighting circuits, bathroom and kitchen electrical fit-outs, fault finding and emergency callouts, smoke and heat alarm installation, and outdoor and garden electrics.

Do I need planning permission for an EV charger?

No planning permission is required for a standard home EV charger in Ireland. Installation is usually a half-day job. The SEAI offers a home charger grant of up to €300 under the EV Home Charger Grant scheme. All Ranksy electricians are familiar with the SEAI grant process and can advise on eligibility.

How do I know if my electrics need updating?

Signs that your electrics need attention include frequently tripping circuit breakers, flickering lights, burning smells near sockets or switches, sockets that feel warm, a fuse board that uses old ceramic fuse wire rather than modern MCBs, or a house that has not been rewired in the last 25 to 30 years. A periodic inspection report will tell you exactly what needs to be done.
