Ranksy ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data protection law.

What data we collect

When you sign up or use our service we collect:

• Your name, email address, and phone number
• Your business name, trade, and service area
• Billing information (processed securely by Stripe — we never store card numbers)
• Photos and content you provide for your website
• Usage data and analytics about how your site is performing

When you visit ranksy.ie we may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and analytics data via privacy-respecting tools.

Why we collect it

We process your data to:

• Provide, manage, and improve the Ranksy service (contract performance)
• Communicate with you about your account and service updates (legitimate interest)
• Process payments and prevent fraud (legal obligation / contract)
• Meet our legal and tax obligations (legal obligation)

We will only send you marketing communications with your consent, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with:

• Stripe — payment processing
• Google — Google Business Profile management, Google Analytics
• Hosting providers — to serve your website
• Email tools — to send you account and results communications

All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements and are GDPR compliant.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as you are a customer. After cancellation, we retain it for up to 12 months for legal and billing purposes, then delete it. Analytics data is retained for 26 months.

Cookies and analytics

We use no essential cookies — ranksy.ie is a static site and the service works without them. We use two optional analytics tools to understand how the site is used, and we ask for your consent before loading either.

Google Analytics (GA4) tracks page views, session duration and traffic sources. Data is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy. You can opt out at any time using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

StatCounter tracks page views and visitor counts. Data is processed by StatCounter under StatCounter's privacy policy. You can opt out via StatCounter's opt-out page.

Neither tool is used for advertising, and neither is sold to third parties. If you decline cookies, neither service loads and no tracking data is sent. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Restrict — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (Ireland) at dataprotection.ie.

Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure hosting, and access controls. No system is completely secure — if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on this page. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
